False Fitness Claims Get Busted

Ever heard of shoes that can give you a workout by walking? Just silly, and I have been saying this for years. shoes like Bath and Body Works Fit Flop, Skechers Shape Ups, and the Reebok Easy Tone are all gimmicks. Reebok took the fall here on this one.

"The athletic shoe and clothing company will have to pay $25 million in customer refunds to settle charges by the Federal Trade Commission that it falsely advertised its “toning” shoes. The company claimed just by walking in their shoes, customers would see 11% improved muscle tone in the calves and hamstrings, and 28% in the buttocks. As part of the settlement, Reebok is prohibited from making some of these claims without scientific evidence. The Federal Trade Commission says the claims were untrue, and the ads were deceptive." - Read full article here
So bottom line is, if you own Reebok Easy Tone shoes you can get a refund of your money. As a fitness professional I am tired of having the public lied to as far as their health and fitness is concerned. Click on this link to get your refund!  http://www.reeboksettlement.com/claim
Shoes will never make or break your fitness, as far as weight loss and toning is concerned. The only time I will say to monitor your shoes is to make sure that they are not worn out and they offer proper arch support. Other than that, if you are looking to tone up you legs... try this thing called squats....... tends to work
